The Lilium guide

How to reach the Lilium from Fiumicino, Ciampino and Termini

Trains, taxis, NCC transfers and the last stretch on foot — times and costs 2026

The hotel is on Via Venti Settembre 58/A, right by Porta Pia: a precise address in a well-connected quarter, a short walk from Termini. Whether you arrive from Fiumicino, from Ciampino or by train, reaching us is simple — and the last stretch, more often than not, you can do on foot. Here's how, with real times and costs.

What is the fastest way to arrive from Fiumicino?

The Leonardo Express connects Fiumicino to Roma Termini in around 32 minutes, non-stop, with departures every 15 minutes and a ticket of about €14. From Termini to the Lilium, on Via Venti Settembre 58/A, it is about 850 m, a 10–15 minute walk on the flat. Those who prefer to arrive right at the door choose the fixed-fare taxi (€55 from Fiumicino, within the Aurelian Walls) or our NCC service. Always check up-to-date fares and timetables on Trenitalia and the City of Rome.

The Lilium's NCC service for transfers from Fiumicino to Porta Pia, Rome

From the main airport

From Fiumicino to the Lilium

The fastest way by public transport is the Leonardo Express: the direct, non-stop train that takes you from Fiumicino to Roma Termini in around 32 minutes, with departures every 15 minutes. The ticket costs around €14 each way. From Termini to our door it is then a matter of a stroll of about 850 m, a 10–15 minute walk, a short taxi ride or a bus along Via XX Settembre.

The budget alternative is the FL1 regional train (the old FR1): it costs around €8 but does not stop at Termini — its stations are Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana and Tiburtina. To reach Porta Pia you need a change (at Tiburtina with metro line B), so it is less direct: we only recommend it to those travelling light and in no hurry.

If you prefer to arrive straight at the door, the fixed-fare taxi from Fiumicino to the centre within the Aurelian Walls costs €55: a figure set by the City of Rome, valid for up to four people, luggage included. Or rely on our NCC service: a driver waits for you at the airport and drops you in front of the hotel.

From the low-cost airport

From Ciampino to the Lilium

Ciampino is smaller and closer, but it has no direct train inside the terminal. The cheapest option is the Ciampino Airlink: a shuttle bus takes you from the airport to Ciampino station in about ten minutes, and from there a regional train reaches Roma Termini. The combined ticket costs around €2.70.

Alternatively there are direct buses to Termini (Terravision, SIT, Autostradale and others): they run without changes and cost roughly €5–6 each way, with journey times that depend on the traffic — usually around 40 minutes. Here too, once at Termini, the Lilium is about 850 m away, a 10–15 minute walk.

The fixed-fare taxi from Ciampino to the centre within the Aurelian Walls is €31 (surcharges included). It is the most convenient way in the evening or with a lot of luggage — and, if you prefer a driver waiting with your name already on the sign, there is always our NCC.

A bus in Rome on Via XX Settembre, public transport towards Porta Pia

The last stretch

From Termini, on foot to our door

Here is the part the generic blogs don't tell you. From Termini station the Lilium is about 850 m away: a 10–15 minute walk, all on the flat, heading up towards Castro Pretorio and Porta Pia. With a wheeled case it is a pleasant route, and it crosses a Rome of ministries and Umbertine palazzi that few tourists ever see.

If you would rather not walk, several bus lines run along the same route up Via XX Settembre: a handful of stops and you are at the door. The metro B stop at Castro Pretorio — the nearest line B station, heading towards Termini — is about 600 metres from the hotel, handy if you are arriving from that direction. A taxi from Termini, finally, is a matter of a few minutes and a metered city ride.

Whichever way you choose, the address to give is always the same: Via Venti Settembre 58/A, right by Porta Pia. It is a precise, easy-to-find spot — the entrance is right on the axis that leads to Michelangelo's gate.
